George Mitchell (Rhodesia)

George Mitchell (* April 1, 1867; † July 4, 1937 ) was Prime Minister from July to September 1933 in Southern Rhodesia. He followed Howard Unwin Moffat in the office.

In 1889 he emigrated from the UK to South Africa. Six years later he became manager of the Bank of Africa in Bulawayo. In 1901 he left the bank and was general manager of Rhodesia Exploration and Development Company. His retirement was made in 1918. From this time on he devoted himself to politics. On November 1, 1930 Mitchell Minister of Mines and work, from May 19, 1932 Minister of Mines and Agriculture. In the elections in September 1933, he lost his seat.
