George Mourad

George Mourad ( born September 18, 1982 in Beirut ) is a Swedish football player with Aramaic / Assyrian roots. He denied 2005, two caps for the Swedish national team and played in 2011 - not eligible to play - for the national team of Syria in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, which was the exclusion of the country's selection from the competition result.

Mourad started his career in 2000 at Västra Frölunda IF, but was initially only as a reserve player for use. In his third year in professional football, he managed to establish itself as a regular force and changed in the winter of 2003 in the Allsvenskan for IFK Göteborg. Even with his new employer, he was among the top performers and played in the notebook of the Swedish national team coach Lars Lagerback. On 22 January 2005 he debuted during a tour of America with a 1-1 draw against South Korea and played four days later in the 0-0 draw against the Mexican selection his second game in Jersey the Swedish national selection.

Move abroad

In January 2006, Mourad was loaned to Brescia Calcio in the Italian Serie B. He, however, came only six competitive games for use and the club from Lombardy refrained from further obligation. Therefore, he returned in the summer back in the Allsvenskan for IFK. During the winter break the Eredivisie - season 2007/ 08 he took part in the training camp of the in- the Eredivisie relegation Dutch club Willem II Tilburg in Portugal, from which it was contracted. Given the competition for Frank Demouge Gerson Sheotahul and Sergio Zijler but he came with his new club infrequently used.

In March 2010, Mourad therefore left the club and returned to Northern Europe, where he obtained a one-year contract signed with the Norwegian Club Tromsø IL. Yet he had come into the focus of the Syrian Association who referred him to the Syrian national team. His international debut for Syria he gave on 29 June 2011, he scored his first goal in the World Cup qualifiers against Tajikistan on July 23, 2011. According to a Tajik official protest of the original 4-0 win was just like the 2:1 success in the first leg, scored with a 0-3 defeat and the national team excluded from the qualification, however, the Syrian Association announced an appeal.

In the meantime, Mourad had changed the club again. He signed in July 2011 a contract with Mes Kerman, with whom he played in the Iranian Pro League. In March 2012 he left Mes Kerman again and joined the Syrianska FC.
