George Edward Trafton (December 6, 1896 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, † September 5, 1971 in Los Angeles, California ) Nickname: The Brute was an American American football player and coach. He played as a center for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League ( NFL).

Career as a player

College Players

Trafton has already played in high school in Chicago American Football. In 1918, he joined the U.S. Army and was captain of a military team. Under head coach Knute Rockne, he played in his military service during his brief studies at the University of Notre Dame for their football team, the Fighting Irish. Trafton played at the same time in a semi- professional football team, which was contrary to the rules for college players. Rockne received note of and removed him from the team. His study was terminated after only one year without a degree.

Professional players

Trafton signed in 1920 a contract with the Decatur Staley a professional contract and moved with this team from George Halas trained team the following year to Chicago. In 1922, he sat for a year and became a coach at Northwestern University, but then continued his career with the Bears continued. In 1931 and 1932 he was appointed as captain of the Bears NFL champions. He finished his playing career in 1932. Trafton was the center of the ball with one hand snappte be the first player on the position of the quarterback. Career as a coach

Trafton is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame and the NFL 1920s All- Decade Team since 1964. He was six times elected to the All- Pro.
