Georges Blanc (chef)

Georges Blanc ( born January 2, 1943 in Bourg -en- Bresse, Rhone- Alpes ) is a French chef.

Family

Blanc comes from a well-known restaurateur family in Vonnas. 1929 received his grandmother Eliza Blanc the first Michelin star in 1933 the second - the highest award at that time. Her daughter Paulette Blanc took over the restaurant in 1934. 1943, their son George Blanc to the world.

Career

George Blanc visited in 1962, although he is more interested in aviation, the renowned Hotel School École hôtelière international Savoie Lémanin in Thonon- les- Bains, Haute -Savoie on Lake Geneva.

After working in some famous restaurants and military service in 1968 he came back to the family business. Gradually he turned the guest house of his ancestors in a luxury inn. He became interested in wine and put on a wine cellar. In 1970 he was awarded third place in the Best Sommelier of France, 1976, he was a Finalist at the Meilleur Ouvrier de France.

1981 Georges Blanc was awarded the third Michelin star, as well as by the Gault Millau as " Chef of the Year ". In 1985, he received 19.5 points in the Gault Millau, which has not yet been awarded by then.

In 1985, he left a 17 hectare vineyard in the Maconnais cultivate and produced 150,000 bottles of wine.

1990 Blanc bought a bakery and seventeen houses around his restaurant in the center of Vonnas. When the A40 motorway was built by Macon to Geneva, he asked for an exit for its small town Vonnas, between Macon and Bourg -en- Bresse. This was built for 2.3 million euros.

In 1996 he was one of the chefs at the G7 meeting in Lyon.

Today, his son Frederick is from his first marriage with him in the kitchen. With his new life partner Sally, he has the daughter Lara since 2007.

Georges Blanc manages a company with over 200 employees, a turnover of around 22 million euros and a yield of around 8 million euros.

Blanc's restaurant is one of the oldest star restaurants in the world. In 2009 it was 80 years in the Michelin guide (only with interruption during World War II ).
