Georgi Donkov

Georgi Dimitrov Donkow ( Georgi Dimitrov also Donkov written, Bulgarian Георги Димитров Донков, born June 2, 1970 in Sofia) is a football coach and former player. He is German Bulgarian roots.

Playing career

Clubs

His professional career started Donkow the age of 17 at Levski Sofia. With this club he was three -time national champion and four- time Cup winner. From 1993 to 1995 he played for Botev Plovdiv, where he in the top Bulgarian league each reached the 3rd place in two seasons. In 1995 Donkow to CSKA Sofia. After Euro 1996, he received offers from 1 FC Cologne and VfL Bochum. He eventually switched to DM 1.5 million to VfL Bochum coach Klaus Toppmöller. In the second year Donkow succeeded with Paderborn promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.

2005 got Donkow of his former colleagues Maurizio Gaudino football the offer to switch to SV Waldhof Mannheim. Despite his 19 goals in 34 games, the club failed in the climb. 2007 changed the striker to FSV Oggersheim; The club got off from the Regionalliga Süd.

Due to a serious injury Donkow finished with 38 years of his career as a professional footballer.

National

Donkow played for all youth teams and was first appointed to the A national team of Bulgaria in 1993. He took her part in the qualifiers for the World Championships in 1994 and 1998 and also played in the European Championship 1996. At that time included Christo Stoichkov, Borislav Mikhailov, Emil Kostadinov, Jordan Letschkow, Krassimir Balakov, Petar Hubtschew, Daniel Borimirow and Ljuboslaw Penev to his team-mates.

Coaching career

In February 2009 Donkow acquired the coach -B license. In the summer of 2009, the training was followed by the A- license coach in the sport Hennef. In the summer of 2012, he acquired the Football Teaching License.

For the 2010/2011 season Donkow was an assistant coach at Wacker Burghausen in the 3rd league and worked from August 2010 on the side of Mario Basler. 14 May 2011 Donkov was transported to the sporty descent from Wacker to the Regionalliga temporarily to the head coach. He managed the team for the first time in Toto Cup final, where to SSV Jahn Regensburg 2-1 defeated. For the 2011/2012 season Donkow became assistant to the new head coach Rudi Bommer at Wacker Burghausen home. After Bommer was changed at the turn of the FC Energie Cottbus, Donkov worked as an assistant coach on the side of Reinhard Stumpf. May 7, 2012 Donkow was again head coach of the club. The first season under Donkov joined SV Wacker at the 8th place in the table ( on points with seventh place in the table ). Donkov but was released on 5 September 2013.
