Gerald Sibon ( born April 19, 1974 in Emmen ) is a former Dutch footballer who played in the 2011/12 season in the Eredivisie at sc Heerenveen.

Career

Association

Sibon comes from the youth of the VV Dalen and then played for FC Twente in Enschede, where he arrived as a 19- year-old to three inserts in the Eredivisie. From 1994, he came for two years at second division VVV-Venlo as a regular player to use and almost two meters tall striker showed his goalscoring with 36 hits. Then he took the first division side Roda JC Kerkrade under contract, and even there he could convince. The victory with the club in the National Cup was his first national title.

From 1997 he played for top team Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax took 1998 the double ( league and cup ) and it could defend the championship title of the year. However, he had difficulty in consistently enforce against the competition in your own team by storm and it took two years after the offer to move to England to Sheffield Wednesday. In early 2003 he returned to the Dutch Eredivisie and joined the sc Heerenveen on. After two years he moved to the top club PSV Eindhoven, who took the double in 2005. The 2005/06 season was, however, very disappointing for Gerald Sibon, so he once again took the opportunity to a move abroad with 32 years.

He came in the 2006/07 season short for German Bundesliga 1 FC Nuremberg as a replacement for the injured Joshua Kennedy failed. But after he was able to play no special role in the storm, his commitment was finished there after a year. For the season 2007/ 08 Sibon returned to his native Netherlands back to sc Heerenveen. In summer 2010, he joined the newly formed Australian club Melbourne Heart, which he scored seven goals and five assists left in February 2011 after 27 missions again. For the 2011/12 season he returned again to sc Heerenveen, where he signed a one year contract and then ended his career.

National

For the 2008 Summer Olympics Sibon selection of coach Foppe de Haan as one of the three allowed 23 -year-old player was called into the squad. Sibon came in the tournament in all four matches to partial inserts and was a two-goal top scorer in the Dutch selection. The team failed to 1:2 after extra time in the quarterfinals of the late Olympic champion Argentina.
