Gerd Siegmund

Gerd Siegmund ( born February 7, 1973 in Dresden ) is a former German ski jumper.

Career

1983 celebrated his debut as Siegmund ski jumper. His first club was Dynamo Sebnitz, where he learned to ski jumping. He then visited the children 's and youth sports school in Klingenthal, where he belonged to the SC Dynamo Klingenthal. After his graduation, he was sporting a soldier of the Bundeswehr and trained after the turn on in Oberhof. Overall, he completed 133 World Cup competition during his active career. His biggest success in the World Cup he was able in 1994 to celebrate the Canadian Thunder Bay. Here he achieved his first and only World Cup victory of his career. Attendance at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer was a particular highlight in the career of the man from Dresden. In the individual competition on the normal hill he reached 11th place. In the team that could win the gold medal in the team competition, however, he was not prepared.

A year later, in 1995, he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Thunder Bay. Together with Jens Weißflog, Hansjörg Jäkle and Dieter Thoma, he won the silver medal in the team competition. In the individual competition on the large hill, he was also able to achieve a 10th place. It was followed by several more years in the World Cup with ups and downs. 1998 suffered a bitter disappointment Siegmund. Despite the geschafften qualifying standard, he was not taken with the Olympic Games in Nagano. Two years later, he finally ended his career, after he had struggled with knee problems.

After the end of his active career Siegmund worked as a ski expert for ARD. After the end of Engagementes Siegmund joined a little later to the television station Euro Sport. Here he is at the commentator Dirk Thiele as an expert in ski transfers to the side.

He is also active as a sports manager, among other things by Richard Friday and Stephan Hocke and held this position even with Michael watch men and Jörg Ritzer field. He also participates in the organization of World Cup in Germany.
