Geography

Gerersdorf is in the Most district in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 13.63 square kilometers. 2.87 percent of the area is forested.

The municipality comprises the cadastral thistle castle, Eggsdorf, Friesing, Gerersdorf, Grillenhöf, Hetzer village, Hofing, Loipersdorf, Salau, Stainingsdorf, Völlerndorf and wide village.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. The first written reference as Geroltestorff year 1040. In the Austrian state of Lower Austria lying core of the site told the eventful history of Austria. Until the abolition of the manorial system in 1848 included a large part of the town to the rule Goldegg. 1850 was the local church Gerersdorf. In 1950, the existing cadastral Prinzersdorf and Uttendorf was excreted from the community Gerersdorf and united to the community Prinzersdorf. With the structure Settlement Act 1972, the congregation was dissolved, nine Katastralgemeinden went to St. Pölten, three on Prinzersdorf. 1982 became the municipality of justice through the re- independence.

Population Development

As of October 31, 2012 the date of the count register, the municipality has 912 inhabitants ( main residence). At the 2001 census, there were 884 inhabitants. In 1991 the community had 813 inhabitants in 1981 and 815 in 1971, 722 inhabitants.
