GETRAG is a manufacturer of gears and transmission components for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles based in the Baden -Württemberg subgroup Bach. With a production of 3.4 million transmissions per year (as of 2012, including joint ventures) GETRAG is one of the largest gear manufacturers in the world. The company manufactures both manual transmission and dual clutch transmission. The company also offers a range of hybridization and electrification of transmissions.

Main competitors are ZF Friedrichshafen, for the Toyota Group subsidiary Aisin Seiki and Jatco.

History

On May 1, 1935 GETRAG was founded in Ludwigsburg by Hermann Hagen Meyer as gear and gear factory Hermannshagen Meyer AG. The company was founded in 1951 converted into a GmbH. On April 19, died in 1982 Hermannshagen Meyer, and his son Tobias Hagen Meyer took over the management.

In 2001, the GETRAG FORD Transmissions GmbH, Cologne established as a 50:50 joint venture between GETRAG and Ford of Europe with three production facilities in Germany, France and the UK.

On 1 January 2007, the joint venture GETRAG (Jiangxi ) Transmission Co. Ltd. was between the GETRAG and Jiangling Motors Company Group established.

On October 22, 2012, a joint venture between GETRAG and the Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd.. founded. Dongfeng GETRAG Transmission Co., Ltd.. scheduled to begin in 2015 with the production of transmissions in Wuhan.
