Ghanaian general election, 2012

The presidential elections in Ghana in 2012 took place on December 7, 2012 coincide with the parliamentary elections. After the death of the incumbent President John Atta Mills (NDC ) July 24, 2012 its vice-president and party member John Dramani Mahama took over the business of government and new elections were announced. Contrary to previous surveys John Dramani Mahama won the elections with an absolute majority of just over 50%, so that there be no absolute majority, scheduled for December 28, 2012 run-off election was unnecessary.

Between 24 March and 5 May 2012, the voters could register with the Electoral Commission of Ghana in the dial directory.

In early December 2012, the Group Nana Akufo - Addo opposition (NPP ), which had failed in 2008 only in the runoff election to Atta Mills, in surveys just ahead of his challengers and incumbents Mahama; other candidates were given no chance.

Candidates and results

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, founder of the newly formed National Democratic Party ( NDC) and wife of former President Jerry Rawlings, was not admitted because of errors in their choice for this job.
