Giancarlo Marocchi

Giancarlo Marocchi ( born July 4, 1965 in Imola (BO), Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

During his playing career he was midfielder and won with Juventus, inter alia, the UEFA Champions League.

Career

In the club

Giancarlo Marocchi began his career with his hometown club, FC Bologna, for the age of 17 he made ​​his debut in Serie B in the season 1982/83. After the descent of the Rossoblu in the Serie C1, he was a regular player and led the team again in the second highest Italian league. In the following years he developed into a true leading player in midfield for FC Bologna.

In the season 1987/88 Marocchi was one of the transferor pillars of the team that made ​​the promotion to Serie A and recommended himself as for a place in one of the big clubs. For the 1988/89 season, he joined the giants Juventus, where he immediately became a regular player under coach Dino Zoff and not a single championship game missed in his first Serie A season.

With Juve Giancarlo Marocchi won in the following years under Giovanni Trapattoni and Marcello Lippi later an Italian Cup, once the Coppa Italia twice and the UEFA Cup 1995/96 Champions League. For Juventus, he played a total of 319 games and scored 25 goals.

In summer 1996, Giancarlo Marocchi moved back to FC Bologna, where he still played for four years and continued to deliver very attractive benefits. After the 1999/2000 season Marocchi ended his active career at the age of 35 years. In 18 seasons as a professional Marocchi completed a total of 500 league games and scored 33 goals.

In the National Team

In the National Marocchi debuted on 22 December 1988 under Azeglio Vicini. 2-0 of Italians against Scotland he stood by his international debut the same in the initial lineup.

Between 1988 and 1991 graduated Giancarlo Marocchi eleven appearances for Italy. In the 1990 World Cup in his own country, he was also in the squad of the Italians, who finished third, without, however, to complete a game.
