Gianluca Tiberti

Gianluca Tiberti ( born April 24, 1967 in Rome ) is a former modern pentathlete, the 1990 world champion in the individual competition and was won two Olympic medals.

Tiberti moved at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul in the Italian team. In the individual competition he finished in 17th place. In the team competition, he won together with Carlo and Daniele Masala Massullo the silver medal behind the Hungarian team. Four years earlier, Massullo and Masala won together with Pierpaolo Cristofori gold at the World Championships in 1986, the two had become world champions along with Cesare Toraldo. In the 1990 World Cup in Lahti Tiberti succeeded somewhat surprisingly winning the gold medal in front of the Soviet pentathlete Anatoly Starostin. Tiberti was thus according to Masala in 1982 and 1986, the third Massullo Italians, who won the individual championship. In the team standings, the Soviet team Gianluca Tiberti, Cesare and Alessandro Toraldo Conforte won. In his second 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Tiberti came in 23rd place in the individual standings. In the team competition, he won behind Poland and the United team bronze along with Roberto Bomprezzi and Carlo Massullo.

As a member of the Carabinieri Tiberti also appeared several times on at the Military World Championships in Modern Pentathlon. 1987 and 1991 he received while in the individual competition, the Bronze Medal, 1991 and 1995, he won with the Italian team.
