Giovanni Angelo Becciu
Giovanni Angelo Becciu ( born June 2, 1948 in Pattada, Sassari, Italy Province ) is a Curia, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
Giovanni Angelo Becciu received on 27 August 1972 the Bishop of Ozieri, Francesco Cogoni, the sacrament of Holy Orders. Becciu was incardinated into the clergy of the diocese Ozieri. He received his doctorate in Canon Law.
May 1, 1984 Giovanni Angelo Becciu entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He worked as an assistant secretary in the Apostolic Nunciature in Chad and the Central African Republic. 1985 Becciu was also Nunciature Secretary in the People's Republic of Congo. February 19, 1985, Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). In 1986, Giovanni Angelo Becciu Nunciature secretary for the Red Sea region and in Sudan. He was secretary to the Apostolic Nunciature 1988 Nunciatures in New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific Ocean. 1990 Becciu Nunciature secretary in Gambia, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. John Paul II appointed him on 15 October 2001 Titular Archbishop of Rusellae and appointed him as Apostolic Nuncio in Angola. On November 15, 2001, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in São Tomé and Príncipe. He received his episcopal consecration on 1 December of the same year, Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Cardinal Sodano; Co-consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino, Archbishop Paolo Romeo, and the Bishop of Ozieri, Sebastiano Sanguinetti. Giovanni Angelo Becciu is the motto chose Duc in altum ( " Put out into the sea "), which is taken from the Gospel according to Luke ( Lk 5.4 EU). On 23 July 2009 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba.
Benedict XVI. appointed him on 10 May 2011 as the substitutes of the Vatican Secretariat of State. In this office Pope Francis confirmed him on August 31, 2013.
