Giovanni Angelo Becciu

Giovanni Angelo Becciu ( born June 2, 1948 in Pattada, Sassari, Italy Province ) is a Curia, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Giovanni Angelo Becciu received on 27 August 1972 the Bishop of Ozieri, Francesco Cogoni, the sacrament of Holy Orders. Becciu was incardinated into the clergy of the diocese Ozieri. He received his doctorate in Canon Law.

May 1, 1984 Giovanni Angelo Becciu entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He worked as an assistant secretary in the Apostolic Nunciature in Chad and the Central African Republic. 1985 Becciu was also Nunciature Secretary in the People's Republic of Congo. February 19, 1985, Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). On November 15, 2001, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in São Tomé and Príncipe. Benedict XVI. appointed him on 10 May 2011 as the substitutes of the Vatican Secretariat of State. In this office Pope Francis confirmed him on August 31, 2013.
