Giovanni Barrella
Barrella Giovanni ( born November 30, 1884 in Milan, † September 23, 1967 in Erba ) is an Italian film director.
Life
Barrella was the son of a major in the Napoleonic infantry and attended the Academy of Fine Arts before he stood on stage next to Carlo Rota and later Edoardo Ferravilla in dialect comedies of Piedmont. This was followed by an engagement at the Teatro Argentina in Rome and for the Compagnia Lombarda by Alberto Colantuoni; Finally, in 1927 he founded his own dialect troupe and staged the first thing El Nost Milan by Carlo Bertolazzi. In 1931 he founded another group that mainly devoted to the amateur theater with Paolo Bonecchio. Some plays and poems from his pen were published.
Only rarely saw Barrella, " El Brumista " (= " the driver " ), in film roles; if so, then he played mostly as a character Lombard Men characters in dramas.
In addition to his acting and literary activity Barrella was also known as a painter.
