Giuseppe Maria Jacchini

Giuseppe Maria Jacchini (* 1663 in Bologna, † May 2, 1727 ) was an Italian cellist and composer.

Life

Jacchini received his musical training as a choirboy at San Petronio in Bologna. There he studied composition with Giacomo Antonio Perti and Domenico Gabrielli. In the " cappella musicale " of S. Petronio Jacchini worked as a cellist, he is possibly the mentioned 1680-1688 " Giosefo del Violonzino ". He mainly instrumental music with cello, which replaced his time more and more the gamba bass instrument. He dedicated his op.4 the composing Bolognese Count Pirro Albergati, who had campaigned for Jacchinis Permanent position in the orchestra of the Cathedral.

Jacchini 1688 member of the prestigious " Accademia Filarmonica ", he also served as conductor of the " dei Nobili Collegion " and the church of S. Luigi.

His cello works have helped to strengthen the position of the cello as a solo instrument. Being an excellent accompanist, he has performed frequently at the city theater. Its intended for special occasions at S. Petronio concerts with trumpet stand in the tradition of the works of his teacher Perti, Giuseppe Torelli and Petronio Franceschini.
