Giuseppe Merisi

Giuseppe Merisi ( born September 25, 1938 in Treviglio ) is an Italian priest and bishop of Lodi.

Life

Giuseppe Merisi received on 27 February 1971, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Milan. John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 8 September 1995 in Milan and Titular Bishop of Drusiliana.

The Archbishop of Milan, Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini, SJ, gave him on 4 November of the same year the episcopal ordination; Were co-consecrators Renato Corti, Bishop of Novara, and Attilio Nicora, retired bishop of Verona.

As a motto he chose Vos autem dixi amicos. Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 14 November 2005 to the Bishop of Lodi and he was introduced to the office on 17 December of the same year.
