Giuseppe Passeri

Giuseppe Passeri (* March 12, 1654 in Rome, † November 2, 1714 ) was an Italian architect, church painter and portraitist of the classical Baroque Rome.

Giuseppe was the nephew and pupil of the painter and art writer Giovanni Battista Passeri. Later he went into the workshop of Carlo Maratta, where he was its preferred students and workshop successor. On September 20, 1693 Passeri member of the Accademia di San Luca and 1701 the Congregation of the Virtuosi al Pantheon. He created numerous churches of Rome altarpieces and frescoes in the style of classical Roman Baroque. Outside of Rome Passeri was 1685 creator of the choir frescoes in the cathedral of Viterbo and worked for the San Antonio Confraternita in Pesaro. As an architect, he was in 1680 involved in the reconstruction of the Church of Santa Barbara alla Regola dei Librai in Rome, he comes to the design of the facade.
