Gladstone Region

Geography

The region lies on the east coast of the state about 440 km north of the capital, Brisbane.

Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Gladstone with about 28 800 inhabitants. The region includes the following districts and towns: Agnes Water, Aldoga, Ambrose, Baffle Creek, Barney Point, Beecher, Benaraby, Berajondo, Bororen, Boyne Iceland, Boyne Valley, Boynedale, Bracewell, Burua, Byellee, Callemondah, Calliope, Captain Creek, Clinton, Colosseum, Coral Sea, Curtis Iceland, darts Creek, Deepwater, Diglum, East End, Euleilah, Eurimbula, Foreshores, Gindoran, Gladstone Central Gladstone Harbour, Glen Eden, Iveragh, Kin Kora, Kirkwood, Lowmead, Machine Creek, Miriam Vale, Mount Alma, Mount Larcom Mount Maria Mount Tom, New Auckland, Oconnell, Oyster Creek, Raglan, River Ranch, Rodds Bay, Rosedale, Round Hill, Rules Beach, Seventeen Seventy, South Gladstone, South Trees, Sun Valley, Tablelands, Tannum Sands, Taragoola, Targinie, Taunton, Telina, The Narrows, Toolooa, Turkey Beach, West Gladstone, West Stowe, Wooderson, Wurdong Heights and Yarwun. Heron Iceland also belongs to the Gladstone region.

History

Today's Gladstone region was founded in 2008 from the City of Gladstone and the two Shires Callipe and Miriam Vale.

Management

The Gladstone Regional Council has nine members. The Mayor ( mayor) and eight other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
