Glay

GLAY is a Japanese rock band. Founded as the group in 1988, it was known in 1994. Their music is rooted in the pop-rock, also influences from punk, electronic music and ska are available.

The band consists of Takuro Kubo ( bandleader, songwriting, rhythm guitar), " Teru " Teruhiko Kobashi (vocals), " Jiro " Yoshihito Wayama (bass) and Hisashi Tonomura ( lead guitar ). Regular guest members are Toshi Nagai (drums ) and Masahide Sakuma (keyboard).

History

Early years

Kubo, Tonomura and Kobashi were students at the high school in Hakodate, when they decided to act together. 1988 founded Kubo and Kobashi with some acquaintances GLAY. The band's name is a misspelling for " gray". They want neither black ( stands for rock ) nor white ( stands for Pop ) be, but pursue his own musical direction.

Teru was first drummer, but was appointed in the summer of the same year by the members, who were very impressed by his singing, the singer. Tonomura seemed at first sporadically in appearances with, but pursued primarily own musical interests with his punk band Ari. This broke up in 1989, after which he joined GLAY as the third permanent member.

1994-2004
