History

The castle is located on an extinct volcano in prehistoric times, which is the only striking elevation within the Godesberg Rhine Valley hopper. In recent years, the Godesburg was restored in large parts. By 2003, 2.7 million euros were spent on the reconstruction of the gastronomy of the city of Bonn. In June 2006, the renovation of the keep was completed in which a small information center has been established to the history of the castle. In July 2006, the city of Bonn was fit to the viewing platform on top of the tower orientation boards in all four directions. From September 2012 to February / March 2014, the keep was restored and had scaffolding around it. The courtyard of Godesburg is accessible via a lift.

Votive stone

Since 1981, the replica of a Roman Votivsteins from the period is situated around 200 AD in the courtyard. He was consecrated to the healing gods Asclepius and Hygeia and 1583 was found on the Godesburg.
