Gökdeniz Karadeniz ( born January 11, 1980 in Giresun ) is a Turkish football player, who is since March 2008 Rubin Kazan under contract.

Career

In the club

Since his first year as a pro in 2001 Gökdeniz Karadeniz played for Trabzonspor. He plays as a midfielder often on the wing and also in a central position. With Trabzonspor Karadeniz twice won the Turkish Cup (2003, 2004). On March 11, 2008 it was announced that Gökdeniz Karadeniz and the Russian club Rubin Kazan had agreed on a transfer. The transfer fee was 8.7 million euros. There he received a five-year contract until 2012. Already in his first season at Rubin Kazan was the team of Russian master what he was involved with 6 goals and 6 templates. This is also played in the UEFA Champions League. On 20 October 2009, he scored in the group match against the defending champions FC Barcelona in the 73rd -minute winner in a 2-1 victory.

In the National Team

Gökdeniz Karadeniz plays since 2002 for Turkey. He took part in 2003 in France at the Confederations Cup in 2003 and at the EURO 2008 in Switzerland and Austria. It was the team's third in the Confederations Cup and reached the semi-finals of EURO 2008. For the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, he was not nominated. After the failure of Turkey's former coach Fatih Terim has been criticized, among others, for non- nomination of Gökdeniz. Even after his resignation, he was not nominated. His last game for the Turkish national team, he completed on 25 June 2008 in the semi-final against Germany, when he came on in the 84th minute.

Betting scandal

2005 Gökdeniz has been banned for participating in illegal football betting for six months. The disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF ) imposed in addition to a fine of the equivalent of around 37,500 euros.

Gökdeniz had shown after the announcement of the betting scandal remorse. At first he was betting small amounts, but the stakes increased from time to time. He had, however, never bet on games of his club Trabzonspor.
