Gölbaşı ( Kurdish Serê Golan ) is the capital of the district of the Turkish province of Adiyaman. At the beginning of the Turkish Republic of newly founded Gölbaşı was, together with the district Besni to 1933 to Gaziantep, Malatya thereafter and finally in 1954 to the newly founded province of Adiyaman. The district has 47 906 inhabitants and the city 28 072. It borders on the Gölbaşı lake, and is about 55 km west of the provincial capital of Adiyaman. The highest mountain is the 2320m Boruk mountain.
