Gombrèn

Gombrèn (until 1984 Gombreny called ) is a Catalan municipality of the comarca Ripollès.

Demography

Several centuries had Gombrèn barely 20 inhabitants, only since the 18th century, there are several hundred, 1787 and 1857 were even counted over 1000. Since then, the population decreases again and is currently at about 200 inhabitants.

The most famous son of the city, Francisco Coll (1812-1875), priest and founder of the Dominican Congregation of the Faith, which was blessed in 1979 and canonized in 2009.
