The subfamily forms to Sanchez Del Pino - (2009 ) is a monophyletic taxon with about 19 genera and about 300 to 400 species. Three clades but The previous division into two tribes ( Gomphreneae and Pseudoplantageae ) does not correspond to the phylogenetic relationships instead recognized:

  • Cladus Iresinoids ( Schwestercladus the other two clades ): Irish Ella Suess. With the only kind: Irish Ella chrysotricha Suess. It is native to the rainforests of Ecuador. It belongs to phylogenetic studies of Iresine.
