Gonen is a town and a district of the Turkish province of Balıkesir. The city is located about 55 kilometers north of the provincial capital of Balıkesir.

The district is located in the north of the province on the Marmara Sea. It is bordered on the east by Bandırma and Manyas, to the south by Balya and the west by the province of Çanakkale. The northern boundary is the coast of the Marmara Sea. The city lies on the River Gonen Çayı, the ancient Aisepos, which flows to the north of the county into the sea. To the east of the district extends to the lake Manyas Gölü.
