Gongsun Yuan

Gongsun Yuan (Chinese公孙渊, Pinyin Gongsun Yuan, † 238) was a Chinese warlord in Liaoning and northern Korea.

He was born the son of Gongsun Kang, Governor of Liaodong: Xuantu, Lelang and Daifang. After his death in 221, his uncle Gongsun Gong took over the rule, but he turned out to be an incompetent ruler, and Gongsun Yuan took control in 228

At that time, China was divided into three kingdoms: the kingdom of Wei in the north, the kingdom of Wu in the southeast and the Kingdom of Shu Han in the southwest. Gongsun Yuan was nominally a subordinate of Cao Rui, the Wei Emperor, but Sun Quan of Wu was careful around him, so that Gongsun Yuan was considering a page break. On the pressure of Cao Rui Gongsun Yuan but killed the envoys of the Wu, some of which escaped to Goguryeo and allied there with the oppressed population. Together with Wu they prepared to attack Gongsun Yuan.

In this crisis, Cao Rui decided to oust the family Gongsun. He sent 237 General Wuqiu with Chinese Jian, Wuhuan and Xianbei troops, but had to quit the campaign because of a flood. Gongsun Yuan proclaimed himself King of Yan and formed an alliance with Wu. In the next year, and Sima Yi Jian Wuqiu re-coated after Liaodong and defeated Gongsun Yuan's general Yan In. They killed Gongsun Yuan and put out his family. The kingdom of Wei conquered Liaodong and northwestern Korea.
