Gonzalo Rubén Bergessio

Gonzalo Rubén Bergessio ( born July 20, 1984 in Córdoba, Argentina) is an Argentine footballer who currently the Italian first division club Calcio Catania is under contract and acts on the position of the striker.

Career

Association

Bergesio began his professional career with 16 years at CA Platense. Thereafter, further stations were added in Argentina before moving to Benfica, a European top club, changed. There, however, he could not prevail and, after only half a year to San Lorenzo de Almagro to Argentina. There he could again show good performances and drew attention to himself. So he moved in 2009 to the French Ligue 1 at AS Saint- Étienne. After one and a half years and moderate coping he played half a year on loan at Catania Calcio in the Italian Serie A, where he fit right good. After his return to Saint- Étienne, he completed two more games before Catania fully committed him.

National

His debut in the Argentine national team Bergessio completed on 16 October 2008 in a World Cup qualifier against Chile, which was lost with 0:1. In the friendly match against Panama on 20 May 2009 Bergessio scored his only previous goals in the national jersey. His last international match so far, he completed on 10 June 2009 against Ecuador.
