Gornhausen

Gornhausen is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Bernkastel- Kues.

Geography

Gornhausen lies at the foot of the Haardt head ( 658 m) in the Hunsrück. 63.2 percent of the district area is forested. Nearest regional center is Bernkastel -Kues; nearest regional center is Trier. Neighboring communities include Veldenz, castles, Morbach- Elzerath and Brown Mountain Hirzlei.

Climate

The annual rainfall is 869 mm. The deposits are located in the upper third of the detected values ​​in Germany. At 74% of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values ​​are registered. The driest month is February. The most rainfall comes in June, 1.3 times more than in February. They vary only slightly and are extremely distributed evenly throughout the year. History

Gornhausen was next to the main town Veldenz and places castles, Mülheim, Brown Mountain and Andel (today district of Bernkastel -Kues ) to the county Veldenz

Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Gornhausen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
