Minheim

Minheim is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member since 1 January 2012, the municipality of Bernkastel- Kues. Minheim is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Minheim lies in the Mosel valley, neighboring municipalities are Kesten and Piesport. The location within a Moselschleife leads to that used mainly in tourist related term " sun island Minheim ".

History

Minheim was first mentioned on September 3, 1061 in a document of Trier Archbishop Eberhard, when he gave the Oratory of St. Matthias church and tithing. Other religious institutions in Trier had in Minheim goods: in 1098, the Collegiate of St. Simeon the Hospital of St. Mary's was named, in 1136 at the Cathedral and in 1159 the Abbey of St. Mary. 1230 was the Count of Blieskastel the advocacy of the place as Kurtrierisches fief.

Beginning in 1794, Minheim under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia.

On 1 January 2012, the municipality Neumagen -Dhron was disbanded as part of municipal and administrative reform and the local church Minheim incorporated into the municipality of Bernkastel- Kues.

Parish council

The local council in Minheim consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats in the Council are divided into two groups of voters.

Economy and infrastructure

Minheim is one of the largest wine-growing communities on the Moselle. The individual layers of the community belong to the major site Michelberg. In addition, there are many apartments, wine bars and taverns. The so-called sun island has many hiking trails and invites go cycling along the River Moselle.

The RV park was opened in 2000, elected in 2007 and in subsequent years by readers of the motorhome magazine Promobil each for " Pitch of the Year".

On the other side of the Moselle, the federal road runs 53, in the west, the Federal Highway 1 in Salmtal and in Wittlich is a station of the Mosel route.
