Hernia is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land. Fracture is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

Fraction lies in the Eifel on long-distance hiking trail Eifel about 10 kilometers west of Wittlich to 190 m above sea level. Sea level and lies on both sides of the Salm. To break also includes the residential places Brucher castle, house Zender, Lerchenhof, Upper Mill and Sonnenhof.

History

History

North of the local situation of fracture remains of a Roman villa complex were found in the 1930s. Even the discovery of Roman cremation cemetery within the boundaries of the community suggests a first settlement in the period from the 1st to the 3rd century.

Break is first mentioned in records in 1138. A Fridelo de Brucha dips on in the founding document of the monastery Himmerod. In the 16th century break was given its own jurisdiction. The associated gallows was on the so-called Gallows Hill to the east of the castle, an old connection path by mountain hamlet.

In the 18th century the above geographic location of the place led to a strange situation. The place belonged to two different territories, since the west of the Salm -lying part of the Duchy of Luxembourg and the eastern belonged to the Electorate of Trier.

From 1794, all fracture was under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Wasserburg
