Plein

Plein is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land.

History

Plein was first mentioned in 1317 as a discipline in documents. Beginning in 1794, Plein under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Plein consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

Under a silver shield with three main black mussels ( 2/1) is in a red field the silver Pleiner viaduct with 4 columns from left to right over a writhing serpent golden. The mussels are called scallops. The pilgrims who walked the Camino de Santiago, they wore a distinctive mark. At Plein led by one of the many roads to Santiago.

Culture and sights

Plein is located on the Maare- Mosel bike path on the old railway line Wittlich- down; the cycle path there over two viaducts and three tunnels. Since the TV, there are hiking in the local church Plein four highlighted by Trierischer Volksfreund trails.
