Binsfeld

Bins field at Wittlich in the Eifel is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land. Nearby is the U.S. Spangdahlem Air Base.

Geographical location

The place is located in the southern Eifel. Nearest Resource Centres are Wittlich and Bitburg.

History

First mention was in 844 bins field was in the 17th century in the possession of the Electorate of Trier. By no later than 1551 ( Bins fields post cross) had a post office box bins at the Netherlands postal route from Brussels to Augsburg to Innsbruck, Trento, Italy. Beginning in 1794, Binsfeld under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

From 1900 to 1965 bins box was connected by the narrow-gauge railway Philipp Home Bins field to the Eifel line between Cologne and Trier.
