Heidweiler

Heidweiler is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land.

Geography

The municipality lies in the Eifel region in the conservation area Meulenwald. To Heidweiler includes the living space Heidweiler mill.

History

Heidweiler was first mentioned in a document dating from 1303. The Archbishop of Trier, Diether of Nassau confirmed the Emerich of breaking the Lehnzehnten to Heidweiler as a jointure for his wife.

Wonderful country, the village belonged to the late 18th century the Duchy of Luxembourg and was part of the rule breaking.

After 1792 French Revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the canton Dudeldorf in the department of forests.

In 1815, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Thus, the community came Heidweiler 1816 Wittlich district in the Trier region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine, which merged in 1822 in the Rhine Province.
