Dierfeld

Dierfeld is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Manderscheid. Dierfeld stood on 31 December 2012 under the smallest municipalities in Germany by population in third place.

Geography

Dierfeld can only be reached from the west across a small road that connects the village to Laufeld. Other neighboring towns are Wallscheid, Mückeln, Oberscheidweiler, Hasborn, Niederöfflingen and Oberöfflingen.

History

The town was a hunting lodge, which had built the Counts of Manderscheid in the 16th century. Beginning in 1794, Dierfeld under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Population

Dierfeld has only twelve inhabitants and is by Gröde and Wiedenborstel the third smallest municipality in Germany. All residents of the community belong to a family. Mayor of the municipality is Gerhard Greve - Dierfeld.

Policy

The local council in Dierfeld consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The community Dierfeld is a debt free community and has for years with a business tax collection rate of 900 percent, the highest business tax rate in Germany. This was, among other things by the mayor of the municipality, the owner of a local nursery, involved in setting.
