Greimerath, Bernkastel-Wittlich

Greimerath is a municipality in the municipality Manderscheid in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate.

History

Greimerath was first documented in 1144. Beginning in 1794, Greimerath under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Greimerath consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Culture and sights

The church dates from 1760. Besides the baroque church is the old rectory and the associated parish garden. In 2005 the rectory was sold (without Pfarrgarten ) to private. The pastor of the parishes Greimerath, Laufeld and Niederöfflingen inhabited the rectory in Laufeld. The rectory garden was rebuilt by specially founded Culture Club to encounter, recreational and cultural site. A sign on the nearby bike trail attracts many cyclists and walkers in this garden with local herbs and plants. A fountain, an outdoor chess game and lots of seating offer all visitors a chance to recover from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
