Laufeld
Laufeld in the Eifel is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Manderscheid. Laufeld is a nationally recognized resort.
History
The Laufelder culture ( Hallstatt C, 700 BC) was named after a large burial ground, which had been found in Laufeld.
Acquired in 1344 King John of Bohemia, also Count of Luxembourg, from the Abbey of Echternach the " Hof Laufeld ". This came shortly afterwards in the possession of the Counts of Manderscheid. From 1794 Laufeld was then under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
On 1 April 2011 has crashed in a field in Laufeld a U.S. ground attack aircraft of the type A-10. The pilot was able to escape with the ejection seat.
Parish council
The local council in Laufeld consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Culture and sights
Worth seeing in Laufeld is the Doll and Toy Museum. It will be shown from the 1950 dolls and toys of the past 100 years as well as everyday objects.
