Geography
Geographical Location
The community Gorxheimertal is elongated in Grundelbachtal. This is located in the Odenwald. The transition to the next largest city, lying just west of Weinheim, is the transition between the Odenwald and the mountain road, and between Hessen and Baden- Württemberg.
By Gorxheimertal the Grundelbach flows. At the eastern end of the district Trösel the two mountains forest head and Daumberg collect and limit the Gorxheimertal in the east.
Neighboring communities
Gorxheimertal bordered to the north by the municipality of Birkenau ( districts Buchklingen and Löhrbach ), to the east by the municipality Abtsteinach, in the southeast on the community Heiligkreuzsteinach and in the south and west by the town of Weinheim (both Rhein- Neckar-Kreis in Baden- Württemberg).

The municipality consists of the villages Gorxheim, sub - Flockenbach and Trösel.
History
Around 900 first sub - Flockenbach as Waldhufendorf, 1071 Trösel was mentioned as an open row Hufendorf documented. The place was first mentioned in 1486 Gorxheim in connection with a copper mine located there. Originally owned by the monastery Lorsch changed the estates in 1232 to Kurmainz, 1463 in the Palatinate and in 1623 back to Mainz. 1803, the valley to the Grand Duchy of Hesse, where it was administered in the district Abtsteinach.
