Gottfried, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg

Gottfried Hermann Alfred Paul Maximilian Viktor Prinz zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg ( born March 24, 1897 in Langenburg, † May 11, 1960 ibid ) was from 1950 to 1960 head of the House Hohenlohe -Langenburg and called himself as such Prince of Hohenlohe -Langenburg.

Life

Gottfried Prinz zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg, was born as the first son of Ernst II zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg and his wife, Princess Alexandra of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha, granddaughter of Queen Victoria. He answered on his school education in the parental lock, as well as in Dresden and Coburg 1915 volunteered for military service. After he retired from the army in 1919, he studied for two semesters economics at the University of Heidelberg. This was followed by an apprenticeship in Berlin (1920-1921) and an internship at a bank in Munich ( 1922-1923 ). In the following years he worked with various international companies and banks.

Prince of Hohenlohe- Langenburg worked his way since 1933 in the management of the root possessions, until he officially took over in 1935 the management of the domain Chancellery and the general agent for his father Ernst II. On 1 May 1937 he became a member of the NSDAP (No. 4.02307 million ). During the Second World War, Gottfried was in leading military positions mainly on the Eastern Front in use until 1944 he was discharged from military service.

After the war he was employed for three months by the American military government as acting district administrator in Crailsheim. After that Gottfried turned back his honorary positions in clubs and associations ( especially in Württemberg- Baden 's Cooperative of St John, the association of the nobility in Württemberg and the Automobile Club of Germany) and the Evangelical Church ( as an MP on Württemberg church days ) to. On 11 December 1950 he succeeded his father Ernst II zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg as head of the family and owner of the parent material.

Marriage and issue

On April 20, 1931, Gottfried married in an ecumenical ceremony with Princess Margarita of Greece, the oldest sister Philip Mountbatten, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Starting in 1933, he took with his wife permanent residence at Schloss Langenburg.

From this marriage the following children were born:
