Government agencies in Sweden

Administrative authorities in Sweden ( Swed förvaltningsmyndighet ) are organizationally independent units within the state or local government. You are administrative organization legal entities, assume the duties of public administration.

It should be noted that according to the Swedish constitution to the form of government tasks of public administration and other institutions such as companies, associations, foundations can be transferred among others. In this case you do not speak in Sweden by authorities.

State Administration authorities are either centralized as the various central offices ( swedish ämbetssverk ) or regional, such as the provincial governments, or locally, such as police stations.

Local governments are either regionally ( as part of the county ) or locally within the municipality.

Central State authorities

Each central state authority ( swedish ämbetsverk ) is assigned to a ministry. The administrative authorities are responsible for implementing the decisions taken by the Government and Parliament resolutions and ordinances, but are self-employed in their implementation, since they are not bound by instructions.

Each authority is headed by a Director General and a board of directors, chaired by the Director General. Their activity is regulated by the Government Act of 1986.
