Gräfingründer Teich

The Gräfiggründer pond, Grauer pond, is a dam in Saxony- Anhalt. Water is dammed an apparently unnamed creek. The pond is part of the surface monument Lower Harz Pond and grave system.

Description

The reservoir is located between Strassberg (resin) and Breitenstein on Straßberger district in Saxony- Anhalt. He is one of the oldest manmade backwaters in Germany and is at least the second oldest existing storage pond in Germany. The name is derived from the Countess reason - the place where the pond is located.

The dam crest is at 470 meters above sea level The dam has a length of about 75 meters, the pond area is 14 484 m² with full back. The original storage capacity of 30,000 m³ is expected by the strong siltation, the depth is only a maximum of 6 meters, no longer be given.

Inflow

The apparently unnamed tributary to Founder Countess pond rises to nearly 490 meters above sea level, about 1600 meters southeast of Untermühle (village of Breitenstein ). The creek flows gently meandering through the forest to empty into the Countess founder pond after only 660 meters in length to about 475 meters.

Outflow

In addition to the shingle Brücher Art trench drained today, the Gräfiggründer pond is drained by an apparently unnamed creek. At about 470 meters the stream leaves the lake and flows only slightly meandering in a south-southeast direction, initially through a wetland. After only about 530 meters of stream runoff flows at about 460 meters above sea level in a storage pond, also lead the trench from Möller pond and a further influx into the. The discharge from the Countess founder pond is the northernmost tributary of the storage pond - which is drained by the ditch bushes.

History

The exact construction is not known, the first written record comes from the year 1320. Mention is made that the pond was already in 1310.

Originally the pond was probably used as a fish pond, before there was a reclassification to an artificial pond at the latest in 1610 (second documentary mention ). Connection to the Lower Harz Pond and grave system received the Pond 1703/1704, when under the direction of Georg Christoff of Utterodt the shingle Brücher Art ditch, which later became the ditch from Möller pond crossed, was the Countess founder pond rotting puddles pond built.

After the end of mining the moat was drained and the pond silted up slowly. From 1900 therefrom was a popular swimming pond - use first also for fishing. Due to the secluded location, idyllic middle of the forest, the Countess founder pond with its partially slightly rocky shore was also for nude bathing popular. The construction of a residential building for the forest managers on the lawn and the barrier of the dam in 2010 ended this possible use and pushed in the region with incomprehension. The building permit for the building located outside the local documents issued prior to designation as a monument after large forest areas were sold to a private owner in the mid- lower resin.
