Grant Potulny

Grant Potulny ( born March 4, 1980 in Grand Forks, North Dakota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and current coach, who was standing by 2009 at the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League contract. His younger brother Ryan is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Grant Potulny began his career as a hockey player with the Lincoln Stars for which, by 2000, he was active in the Junior League of 1998 United States Hockey League. He was then in the fifth round as the 157th overall player selected in the NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators in 2000, for which he, however, never played. Instead, the attacker ran for four years on the team for the University of Minnesota, with which he in 2003 and 2004 won the championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. During this time, Potulny worked for three years as captain of the Golden Gophers, as long as no player before him since 1947. Between 2004 and 2007 was the shooter left for Ottawa's farm team, the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League on the ice. Even then he remained in the AHL, where he took in the 2007/ 08 season for the Hershey Bears and Springfield Falcons.

The 2008/09 season began Potulny at the foxes Duisburg in the German Ice Hockey League. After just seven games in which he scored a goal, the Americans returned to the AHL, where he ran aground until end of season for the San Antonio Rampage and Norfolk Admirals. Following this season of Americans ended due to injury problems his playing career and then took over the post of assistant coach with the Golden Gophers, the University of team from the University of Minnesota.
