Green Eyed Soul ( German: " green-eyed soul " ) is the debut album from German singer Sarah Connor. It reached the charts in many European countries.
Background
For her debut album, Connor worked for several months together with the producers Kay Denar, Rob Tyger, Bülent Aris and triage to produce with them most of the album. The title Green Eyed Soul Connor follows:
" In the America of the 60s has R'n'B music that was played by white artists, called Blue - Eyed Soul. My eyes are green, my music comes from the soul - Green Eyed Soul, "
Before November 26, 2001 release Connors debut album, three singles have already been decoupled from it. The debut single Let's Get Back to Bed - Boy! was published in May 2001, made it in four countries in the top 10 and climbed into the UK charts at number 16. For this was Sarah Connor from the music channel VIVA Comet in the category of National Newcomer. In August 2001, the second single French Kissing followed.
With the third single From Sarah with Love, which was published three weeks before the album, she made it for the first time at number one in the German charts. The song was nominated at the Echo Awards 2002 as "Best National Single" and platinum. In addition to Germany, she landed in Switzerland, Poland and Portugal on the first place of the charts and reached the Top 10 in Austria, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Greece. Overall, From Sarah with Love was 36 weeks in the charts in Switzerland, 22 weeks in the Austrian charts, 17 weeks on the Swedish charts and 11 weeks in the charts in Finland. The song If U Were My Man was released as the fourth and final single in July 2002, only in Finland.
Green Eyed Soul debuted at number three on the German album charts and reached gold status within a week. In the third chart week, the album reached its highest placing second place. In the German album charts in 2002, the album reached number 28 In Austria and Switzerland it placed in the top 10 and achieved the top 20 in Finland, Poland, Greece, Holland and Portugal.
The album has a mix of ballads, R'n'B pieces, hip-hop Parts and Black Music. The first song that Connor recorded for the album was Where Do We (Go from Here ). When the songs Let's Get Back to Bed - Boy! and Magic Ride ( Whatever U Wish 4 ) acts of the American R & B and hip- hop singer TQ with guest vocals. He wrote and produced especially for Sarah Connor's debut album, the song Can not Get None. The Song In My House is a cover of the same song of the Mary Jane Girls.
Review
Michael Frömmer of Laut.de gives the album two out of five possible points. He praises the vocal potential of Sarah Connor and the term of the CD, which offers a rarity to the buyer with 17 titles and one hour run time. For Soul Music him Sarah Connor is too inauthentic on the album, because she lacks the passion. The first two singles Let's Get Back to Bed, Boy! and French Kissing Frömmer referred as "sample overloaded retort hits". Other songs he considers textual level full, but most would offer only once well-known musical.
