Greenlandic general election, 2009

The parliamentary elections in 2009, Greenland took place on June 2. Vacant were all 31 seats in Inatsisartut or county council, the Greenland Parliament. There were a total of six parties and independent candidates also.

Note: The percent of the official election statistics do not refer to such common in Germany to the sum of the valid votes, but on the sum of all votes, ie including empty and invalid ballots.

When choosing the strongest party Siumut clearly lost votes. The same applies to Demokraatit and Atassut. Take advantage of it was the only party Inuit Ataqatigiit. It was by far the strongest force in Inatsisartut and now, together with Demokraatit and Kattusseqatigiit Partiiat the new government with a large parliamentary majority. It replaced the coalition of Siumut, Inuit Ataqatigiit and Atassut. The newly founded liberal socialist claims to Sorlaat Partiiat missed to enter parliament.
