Greg Ginn

Greg Ginn ( born June 8, 1954) is an American guitarist, bassist and vocalist. He was co-founder of Black Flag and also wrote most of the songs of the band. Ginn is considered as the most influential hardcore punk guitarist and was taken up by the music magazine Rolling Stone in the list of 100 best guitarists of all time.

Life

Ginn grew up in California, where he in 1976 with Keith Morris founded the band Panic, which was renamed in 1978 in Black Flag. The members of the band changed regularly. Ginn was the only constant in the line-up. He remained until the dissolution in 1986 a member of Black Flag.

End of the 1970s Ginn founded his own record label, SST Records, first published the albums by Black Flag and later recordings of other bands in the. Aside from the period 1998 to 2008 SST Records is still active today.

After the end of Black Flag Ginn played in various other bands and also led the 1985 founded as a side project bands October Faction and Gone on. In 1993 he released his first solo album, Getting Even, two more followed in the first half of the 1990s. In 2004 he founded in the Texas City Taylor, the band Greg Ginn & the Texas corrugator, later renamed to Greg Ginn & the Taylor Texas corrugator.
