Greg Sutton (soccer)

Gregory " Greg" Sutton ( born April 19, 1977 in Montreal) is a former Canadian soccer goalkeeper.

Club career

Sutton played at St. Lawrence University for the St. Lawrence Saints in college football before he was selected as the only goalkeeper in the MLS College Draft 1999, 23 out of the Chicago Fire SC. In Chicago, he was substitute goalkeeper Zach Thornton behind and came in the seasons 1999 and 2000 to a total of five missions in Major League Soccer. In the two years he also played in the USL A-League and arrived there on some missions. In 2000 he was discharged for some time at the New York MetroStars, but returned without the use back to Chicago.

2001, Sutton joined the Canadian A- League club Montreal Impact. There he established himself as first-choice goalkeeper and one of the best goalkeepers in the USL. Between 2003 and 2006, he was awarded four times in a row as the best goalkeeper in the league in winning the title in the 2004 season, he was also honored as the most valuable player of the season. Between 2001 and 2006 he graduated from Montreal 132 League Appearances and another 15 games in the playoffs.

The end of 2006 Sutton signed a contract with the newly formed Canadian MLS team Toronto FC and was at the beginning of the 2007 season goalkeeper.
