Gretchen Parlato
Gretchen Parlato ( born February 11, 1976 in Los Angeles ) is an American jazz singer.
Life and work
Gretchen Parlato was selected in 2001 to study at the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz college program by a jury of Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard and Wayne Shorter; In 2004 she won first prize in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition. In 2005 they released their debut album, which was awarded five stars from Downbeat; In the same year she performed with Wayne Shorter on the La Villette Jazz Festival in Paris. 2009 was followed by the album In a Dream, on which they interpreted R & B songs, arranged by Robert Glasper. 2010 she performed at the Stuttgart Jazz Open. As Gastvokalistin she participated in productions of Esperanza Spalding, Kenny Barron ( The Traveler ), Lionel Loueke and Terence Blanchard (Flow) with.
