Esperanza Spalding

Esperanza Spalding ( born October 18, 1984 in Portland, Oregon) is an American jazz musician ( bass, vocals, composition) and Grammy winner.

Biography

Spalding grew up in Portland, Oregon, on. At five years old, she learned to play violin - motivated by the fact that she had seen the cellist Yo -Yo Ma on TV - and played ten years in the orchestra of the local chamber music association ( Chamber Music Society of Oregon).
