Großer Steinberg (Solling)

The Great Steinberg is an approximately 493 m above sea level. NN high hill in the south of the Solling in the district of Northeim, Lower Saxony southwestern ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The heavily forested Large Stone Mountain is located in the southern part of the Solling -Vogler nearly 6 km north- northeast of Uslar. From its northern districts Eschershausen and Vahle the mountain via several routes can be reached.

Hilltops

The summit area of Big Stone Mountain consists of two gently sloping hilltops, which are approximately 500 meters apart in northwest-southeast direction and have these ups and Coordinates:

  • Northwest tip: about 493 m above sea level. NN ( ⊙ 51.7059.6658333333333493 ) with near measurement point on forest road junction at 491.7 m above sea level. NN

Lookout tower resin views

On the southern slope of the Great Steinberg is at about 457 m above sea level. NN height of the observation tower overlooking resin ( ⊙ 90-146 ), which was built of wood. Originally was to be built on this mountain the Sollingturm, but after it was built on the west this is 4.5 km distance adjacent Strutberg, the resin views of the Great Steinberg was erected.

From its observation deck one has a good distance vision: So you look to the east to the resin in which the chunk can be seen by south-southeast to Gaußturm on the Hohenhagen in Dransfelder city forest, south to the Kaufunger forest and the southwest one looks the Reinhard Forest.
