Doux S. A. is a French group of the meat industry with headquarters in Châteaulin ( Département Finistère, Brittany ).

It is the largest producer and processor of poultry meat in Europe and one of the world's five largest exporters of poultry and poultry products. The company is headed by Jean Pierre Doux Doux and Charles, CEO is Guy Odri. Beginning of June 2012 the company announced bankruptcy.

Products

The Doux Group manufactures fully integrated, that is, from the hatching of the eggs of the poultry breeding and animal feed production, slaughter and processing to marketing the entire value chain is controlled by the Group. The group has about twenty production sites in France and Brazil, and employed a total of 12,300 employees in 2008, including over 4,500 in France and 7,600 in Brazil. Doux is the leading exporter to these countries: Saudi Arabia Doux 2008 had a market share of 45% with a strong upward trend in the United Arab Emirates, 50 %, 23% in Oman and Qatar 18%. By far the markets followed by Russia (121 million euros turnover ) and America ( 76 million euros without the Brazilian market ). In Brazil, in 2008 a turnover of 107 million euros was achieved.

History

The company's founder Pierre Doux began in 1933 in Nantes with a poultry trade. In 1955 he founded his own slaughterhouse in Port -Launay ( Département Finistère, Brittany ). In the 1970s Doux rose to become one of the largest distributors of frozen poultry meat. For further strong growth was around 1990 to enter the market in other countries, including Germany and Spain. Doux in Germany
