Gruppe Olten

The group Olten was an existing 1971-2002 Association of Swiss authors, named after the site of the first preparatory meetings, the small town of Olten in the canton of Solothurn.

History

In the group Olten initially rallied members of the Swiss writers association (SSV ), which in 1970 left the club because it was in their view, dominated by reactionary forces. The external cause for secession was that of the SSV - President Maurice Zermatten (anonymous) verfertigte and in their anti-communist tendency to " traitors " stamped all left-wing intellectuals, exacerbated French translation of the official civil defense book, which in the spirit of the Cold War, the population mutual spying calling and was distributed to all households. After the discovery of this " scandal " by Franck Jotterand first appeared on October 27, 1969 in the Gazette de Lausanne, a protest by 78 writers and professors from the Romandie. After the board of the SSV Zermatten still had unanimously expressed its full confidence Jotterand also sought contact to the German - Swiss writer colleagues to jointly explain the exit just before the Annual General Meeting of the SSV.

He found another 21 outlet willing: Peter Bichsel, Jean Louis Cornuz, Walter Matthias Diggelmann, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Ernst Eggimann, Jürg Federspiel, Dieter Fringeli, Max Frisch, Walter Gross, Vahé Godel, Ludwig Hohl, Peter Lehner, Kurt Marti, Adolf Muschg, Werner Schmidli, Jörg Steiner, Yves Velan, Walter Vogt, Otto F. Walter, Walter and Henry Weideli Wiesner.

However, not all had SSV members learned of the discharge action. "Some followed later the dissidents, others held the SSV out of spite and indignation that they had been passed over, fidelity. "

On April 25, 1971, finally, the foundation meeting in the bilingual Biel / Bienne took place. First President of the five -member board was a woman: Anne Cuneo. The statutes of the association had designed the Berne songwriter and lawyer Mani Matter; they have been approved at the General Meeting of 13 June in Neuchâtel, where Hans Mühlenthaler was elected secretary. To the disappointment of many, neither Dürrenmatt still fresh left ( he followed later ) to enter the new club move even Federspiel not.

For the founding members of the group Olten writing was inseparable from a politically binding citizenship. So we took later in the purpose clause of the Articles on the target to achieve " a democratic socialist society." This goal was abandoned in 2000, again, what the escape of Mariella had more consequence. The remaining part of the purpose of the article was now: "They [the group Olten ] support political efforts at the national and international level, and the equitable distribution of wealth, the democratization of the economy and public institutions, protecting the world from military and civilian destruction the realization of human rights as their object ".

On 12 October 2002, the group Olten and the now " Swiss women writers and writers' association " called SSV dissolved in Bern formally. At the same time a new, common federation under the name " authors of Switzerland " ( AdS ) was founded.
